Which Nationalities Get a Free Pakistan Visa?
The official schedule says no visa fee is charged to nationals of Afghanistan, China, Japan, Iceland, North Korea, Slovakia, Malaysia, the UAE and Saudi Arabia (work visas excepted). Citizens of the Maldives and Nepal do not need a visa at all, and holders of a NICOP or Pakistan Origin Card are exempt too.
A free visa is not the same as no visa: you still apply online and wait for approval before travelling.
What Happened to the Free Visa?
In August 2024 Pakistan introduced a free "Visa Prior to Arrival" (VPA) for citizens of 126 countries. Since 1 January 2026 it has been removed from the official portal without a public announcement, and travellers now pay the standard e-Visa fee for their nationality. Business and Work Visa Fees
The schedule's general rule is that a single-entry business or work visa costs US $100, and multiple entries cost 200% of the single-entry fee. Some countries have their own rates; for US nationals, for example, the work/business line is US $100 single entry, US $150 multiple up to one year and US $200 multiple over one year. Total Cost and How to Pay
According to the schedule, the listed fees include government surcharges and an NADRA service charge, and a small bank fee may be added when you pay. The portal shows the exact amount for your passport before payment. Pay online with a Visa or Mastercard; the fee is non-refundable, even if the visa is refused.
- Use only visa.nadra.gov.pk. Look-alike sites add their own "service fees".
- Choose single or multiple entry carefully: you cannot change it after paying.
- Apply once with complete documents, because a refused application means paying again.
