HUNTING IN PAKISTAN

Legal Trophy Hunting Tours and Community Conservation

Pakistan's community-based trophy hunting programme is known worldwide as a conservation success. A limited number of permits are issued each year for mountain species such as markhor and ibex, and a large share of each trophy fee goes to the local communities that protect the animals. This has helped species like the markhor recover from the edge of extinction.

Our trophy hunting tours run only under valid government permits and official quotas. We help with the permit process, firearm import paperwork, logistics and CITES documents, and hunt with experienced professional hunters, local guides and community game guards.

How to Plan a Legal Trophy Hunt in Pakistan

01

Permits and quotas

Every species has a limited annual quota, set by the provincial wildlife departments and the Gilgit-Baltistan Parks and Wildlife Department. Permits for markhor are extremely limited and are usually allocated through a government process, so you should contact us well before the season.

02

Firearms and trophies

You can bring your own rifle with a temporary import permit, which we help to arrange, or hire one where allowed. Export of trophies needs CITES and national documents, and we help with the paperwork; taxidermy and shipping are arranged separately.

03

Season and fitness

Most hunts take place in winter, from about November to March or April, when animals come down to lower ground. Mountain hunts are physically demanding, so good fitness and long-range shooting skills are essential.

FAQ

Trophy Hunting Tours FAQ

More questions? See our Pakistan travel FAQ, read reviews from our guests, or plan your trip with our team.

Is trophy hunting legal in Pakistan?

Yes, under strict rules. Trophy hunting is allowed only with a valid government permit, within official quotas, in approved community or private hunting areas. We only run hunts that are fully licensed.

How are hunting permits allocated?

Quotas are set each year by the provincial wildlife departments and the Gilgit-Baltistan Parks and Wildlife Department. Permits for rare species such as markhor are very limited and are usually allocated through a government process.

Does trophy hunting help conservation?

Under Pakistan's community-based programme, a large share of each trophy fee goes to the local community for conservation and development. This has helped species such as the markhor recover.

Can I bring my own rifle?

Yes. We help arrange the temporary firearm import permit. Where allowed, a rifle can also be hired locally.

Can I export my trophy?

Yes, with the right CITES and national export documents, which we help to prepare. Taxidermy, packing and international shipping are arranged separately.
