Overview
This Booking & Cancellation Policy explains how bookings, payments, cancellations and changes work for all tours, treks, expeditions and tailor-made trips arranged by The Golden Adventure (TGA), a Destination Management Company registered with the Government of Pakistan through the Ministry of Tourism (DTS Licence DTS-GB-094).
By paying the advance to reserve a tour, you confirm that you have read and accepted this policy on behalf of yourself and everyone in your booking.
Policy at a Glance
How to Book
- Contact us on WhatsApp or by email with your preferred tour or trip idea, dates and group size. You can also use our Plan My Trip page.
- Receive your proposal: we send you a detailed itinerary and quote.
- Pay the 25% advance to reserve your tour.
- Booking confirmation: once we receive the advance, we send a written booking confirmation by email. Your booking is confirmed only after this confirmation is issued.
Payment Terms
- Advance: 25% of the total tour price is required to reserve your tour.
- Balance: the remaining 75% is due no later than one week (7 days) before your arrival in Pakistan.
- Late bookings: if you book less than one week before arrival, the full tour price is due at the time of booking.
- Currency and amount: the price, currency and payment details are stated in your quote and booking confirmation.
Payment methods
We currently accept payment by bank transfer. Our bank details are shared with your booking confirmation. Please send your payment reference to info@thegoldenadventure.com so we can match it to your booking.
Coming soon: online payment and debit/credit card payments.
Bank and transfer charges are paid by the client, so that the full amount reaches us. If the balance is not received by the due date, TGA may treat the booking as cancelled by the client and the cancellation terms below will apply.
Cancellation by the Client
If you need to cancel, please inform us in writing by email at info@thegoldenadventure.com. The cancellation date is the date we receive your email.
- The 25% advance is non-refundable in all cases of cancellation by the client.
- After the full payment (from one week before arrival), there is no refund, because hotels, transport, guides, permits and other services are paid in advance on your behalf.
No-Show
If you do not arrive on the tour start date without cancelling in writing, this is treated as a no-show and no refund is given.
Cancellation or Changes by TGA
Travel in the mountains of Pakistan can be affected by events beyond anyone's control. If TGA has to cancel or significantly change your tour because of:
- bad weather, snow or natural disasters;
- landslides or road closures;
- cancelled domestic flights;
- government restrictions or orders;
- security concerns;
you can choose to reschedule your tour to new dates, or receive a 100% refund of the payments you have made to TGA.
Your safety always comes first. On the trip, your guide may adjust the daily plan, route or campsites because of weather or conditions on the ground.
Changes Requested by the Client
If you would like to change your travel dates, itinerary or the number of travellers after booking, please contact us by email as early as possible. We will do our best to help, subject to availability.
- Any extra costs charged by hotels, transport providers, airlines or permit offices because of your change are paid by the client.
- If a requested change is not possible, the original booking and this cancellation policy remain in place.
- Changes requested during the tour (for example, leaving early or skipping services) are not refundable.
Unused Services
No refund is given for any part of the tour you choose not to use, such as meals, hotel nights, activities or transport, including if you leave the tour early for personal reasons.
Visas, Passports & Permits
- Every traveller is responsible for holding a valid passport (at least 6 months validity) and a valid Pakistan visa.
- TGA provides a Letter of Invitation and visa application support free of charge for clients who book a tour. Read our full Pakistan Visa Guide.
- Where trekking or mountaineering permits are required, TGA arranges them as part of your tour.
- Fees already paid to third parties for permits, domestic flights or other services may not be refundable.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that every traveller has travel insurance covering cancellation, medical treatment and emergency evacuation. For treks and high-altitude trips such as the K2 Base Camp Trek, choose a policy that covers trekking at altitude and helicopter rescue.
Health, Fitness & Conduct
- Please tell us about any medical condition, dietary need or fitness concern before booking, so we can advise whether a trip is suitable.
- Each trip has a difficulty level; please choose one that matches your fitness and experience.
- Travellers are expected to follow the guide's safety instructions, respect local customs and laws, and respect other travellers and our team.
- The guide may stop a traveller from continuing an activity if it is unsafe for them or the group. No refund is given in this case.
Questions & Complaints
If something is not right during your trip, please tell your guide or contact us straight away so we can fix it on the spot. After the trip, you can send any feedback or complaint by email to info@thegoldenadventure.com and we will reply as soon as possible.
Changes to This Policy
TGA may update this policy from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the one in place on the date your booking is confirmed. This page was last updated in October 2026.
Using Our Cancellation Policy with Confidence
We wrote this cancellation policy to be fair to travellers and to the local guides, drivers, cooks and hotels who prepare for your trip. A few simple habits make it work in your favour:
- Buy travel insurance when you book. A policy with cancellation cover protects your deposit if illness or family emergencies stop you from travelling. See our travel insurance policy.
- Tell us in writing. If you need to cancel or change dates, email or message us as early as possible, so the cancellation policy terms that apply are clear and dated.
- Ask about changing dates. Moving your trip is often easier than cancelling it. Our team will always look for options first.
- Check your visa early. Apply for your Pakistan visa in good time. The Visas, Passports & Permits section above explains how visa issues are handled.
Payment dates and methods are explained on our payment information page, and common questions are answered in our Pakistan travel FAQ. Mountain trips such as the K2 Base Camp Trek can be affected by weather, flights and road closures; the sections above explain how we handle changes made by TGA.
