A Letter of Invitation (LOI) is a letter from a Pakistani host or company confirming your visit. Independent tourists in hotels usually just need hotel bookings. You need an LOI if you stay with friends or family, or travel on an organised tour, trek or expedition. For tourism it should come from a tour operator licensed by the Department of Tourist Services (DTS).

When Do You Need an LOI?
- You are staying with friends or family instead of hotels.
- You are on an organised tour, trek or expedition.
- You are travelling as a group through a tour operator.
- You are a business visitor (a company invitation; see business visa).
If you travel independently and stay in hotels, hotel bookings for your stay are normally enough.
Who Can Issue a Letter of Invitation?
Tour operators
For tourism, the LOI should come from a tour operator licensed by the Department of Tourist Services. A clear, official LOI showing your itinerary helps the visa officer understand your trip, especially for mountain and restricted areas.
Private hosts
Friends or relatives provide a signed letter with a copy of their Pakistani ID card (CNIC), their address and phone number.
What a Good LOI Includes
- The issuer's name, licence or CNIC number, address and contact details.
- Your full name, nationality and passport number, exactly as in your passport.
- Travel dates and the places you will visit (day-by-day for tours).
- Where you will stay.
- Signature, date and company stamp where relevant.
