OVERVIEW

The Perfect Spear of the Karakoram

The Laila Peak Base Camp Trek follows the lower half of the famous Gondogoro La route, but from the south. From Hushe village we walk to the meadows of Saicho and up the Gondogoro Glacier to Dalsampa and Khuspang, the camps below Laila Peak. Its perfect snow spear rises above the glacier and is one of the most photographed peaks in Pakistan.

The trek is shorter and less committing than the Baltoro routes, yet the scenery is pure Karakoram: hanging glaciers, granite walls and views of the Masherbrum range. Nights at Dalsampa, a green pasture beside a small lake, are a highlight. Our team handles transport, camping, meals, porters and all permits.

Trip Highlights

  • Close views of Laila Peak (approx. 6,096 m) above the Gondogoro Glacier

WHY THIS TREK

Why Choose the Laila Peak Base Camp Trek?

The Laila Peak Base Camp Trek is one of the best ways to see the high Karakoram in under two weeks. The approach from Hushe is gentle, the campsites are green and sheltered, and Laila Peak is in view for most of the walk.

It is a good fit for fit trekkers who want more than a meadow walk but are not ready for the full Gondogoro La Trek. You can also combine it with the Masherbrum Base Camp Trek, which starts from the same village.

Add a few days in Skardu before or after the trek. Before you travel, read our Pakistan visa guide and our advice on travel insurance.
