BEFORE YOU GO

Good to Know

  • Darshan & Seva

We plan unhurried time for darshan, ardaas, kirtan and seva at each gurdwara, and langar is served at most of them. Tell us your wishes and we will plan the day around them.

  • Visas for Yatris

We provide a Letter of Invitation for most nationalities, including Sikhs from the UK, Canada, the USA and Europe. Indian yatris usually travel under special government arrangements, and we can advise on the process.

  • Etiquette

Cover your head, remove your shoes and wash your feet before entering. Tobacco and alcohol are not allowed in gurdwaras. Modest dress is expected.

  • When to Go

October to April is the most pleasant time. Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Shaheedi Purab and Maharaja Ranjit Singh's barsi in June bring large gatherings at Dera Sahib. Read our guide to the best time to visit Pakistan.
