The Pakistan Birdwatching Tour is a 9-day winter journey through the wetlands of the Indus, from the lakes of Sindh to the Salt Range, when thousands of ducks, cranes, flamingos and birds of prey arrive from Central Asia and Siberia.
Every winter, huge numbers of birds fly south along the Indus Flyway from Central Asia and Siberia to the lakes and rivers of Pakistan. The wetlands of Sindh and Punjab fill with ducks, geese, cranes, flamingos, pelicans and the eagles and falcons that hunt them.
The Pakistan Birdwatching Tour visits some of the best of these wetlands: Keenjhar and Haleji lakes near Karachi, the Indus near Sukkur, and the Ucchali wetland complex in the Salt Range. An experienced birding guide helps you find and identify species, and the tour can be adapted for photographers.

The Pakistan Birdwatching Tour shows a side of Pakistan few visitors know: its rich winter wetlands. For birders, it is a chance to see Central Asian species in large numbers, in places with very few other birdwatchers.
It combines well with our Indus River Dolphin Tour near Sukkur, or with the Lal Suhanra & Cholistan Wildlife Tour for desert species.
Before you travel, read our Pakistan visa guide and our advice on travel insurance, or browse all our wildlife tours in Pakistan.

Bird numbers and species vary from year to year with water levels and weather, but winter always brings large flocks to the wetlands.
Birding is easy, mostly from roads, embankments and boats, with early starts for the best light.
We follow responsible birding practice: no playback near nesting birds and quiet observation from a distance.
November to February is the best time, when migratory birds are in Pakistan. Read our guide to the best time to visit Pakistan.
