Shimshal happens to be the highest human settlement in the Hunza District at an altitude that stretches up to 3100m. The Trek begins from Dut from where it’s a three-day distance to Shimshal village. Being the farthest away village in Pakistan, it has a historical perspective to it. The ruler of Hunza used to send the prisoners or those he did not admire as a person. It is not to be blurred with the exciting stays the place offers today. Make no mistake, TGA team is not up to an imprisonment schedule.

The folk of Shimshal are second to none in hospitality and friendly nature. The trek continues as we advance towards Shimshal and make it for the Ghunjerab Valley. Next on the map are Boesam Pass and Chapchingiol Pass from where we redirect to the stretches of Kuksel. This is where we meet KKH and the journey back to Hunza begins in jeeps.

The last paddle pushes us into Khunjerab National Park to witness the endangered species of Pakistan. Would be sure to bride lady luck on our side so that we may come across a markhor or two. The ibex or the Marcolo Sheep. And if we are very fortunate, we might see a snow leopard on our way.
